Common Errors in NTSE - Mathematics

Many students do common errors in the examination, below are the common errors in Mathematics given by NTSEGuru experts :

1 In real number, always mention Euclid’s division lemma.

a=bq + r 0≤ r ≤b

2. Be ultra cautious while selecting a formula.

Especially Sn & an;

Condition for unique solution, no solution etc

3. Always cross check ‘division of bi-quadratic polynomials’ for remaining two zeroes.

4. Do not get confused among mean, mode & median.

5. Around 40% of students do not write units of measurements in word problems, mensuration & applications of trigonometry.

6. Framing of correct equations in word problems.

For example:

Age of father is thrice that of his son. 20 years later, the age of the father is twice that of his son.

Let present age of the father is ‘x’ & that of his son is ‘y’ then

x=3y (right)

y=3x (wrong)

x=y+3 (wrong)

Don't do such mistakes in NTSE examination, this kind of errors can affect your ranking & marks.
